German automotive company Mercedes-Benz has joined forces with New York’s Proenza Schouler for a brand new collection.
Entitled ‘The Power of Two’ the capsule comprises of seven gender neutral styles including recycled cashmere blankets, blanket harnesses, trench coats, knit turtlenecks. There is also a variety of accessories including a recycled wool weekender tote and keychains in up cycled leather.
Inspired by travel, the open road, and the iconic Mercedes-Benz logo all of the pieces are crafted from high quality, sustainable materials, such as recycled eco cashmere and upcycled leather, and made using responsible manufacturing practices involving natural dying and tanning methods.
‘We wanted to create a collection inspired by travel and the open road, and used this as an opportunity to try new, environmentally responsible production methods. The experience opened our eyes to how much can be done while designing through a sustainable lens, and we are grateful to Mercedes-Benz for their partnership through this process,’ said Proenza Schouler designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez.
‘With the ‘Power of Two’, both brands unite by sharing the same values in offering responsible luxury design and craft. This collaboration aims to take customers and fans on a sustainable road trip that reflects timeless design, where fashion becomes a contemporary messenger of cultural change that enhances the value of individual lifestyle,’ explained Bettina Fetzer, VP Communications & Marketing for Mercedes-Benz.
To accompany the launch of the collection a campaign featuring actress Laura Dern and her son, model and musician, Ellery Harper has been released. The campaign documents the cross-country road trip of a mother and son down the coast in an electric Mercedes EQS sedan.
The Mercedes-Benz x Proenza Schouler ‘The Power of Two’ collection is available now exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue in New York, Selfridges in London, and the Proenza Schouler website. The collection will also be on display until the end of November at the Mercedes-Benz brand space in Munich, Studio Odeonsplatz, with pieces available to be purchased on site.
